Shape of Wonder statement

Organic forms resist certainty. They cannot be measured by perfect symmetry or reduced to fixed definitions; instead, they unfold through irregularity, growth, erosion, and chance. They belong equally to the microscopic and the monumental—to cells, rocks, seeds, and bodies shaped by time. Familiar yet unnamed, they invite imagination to complete what cannot be defined.

This body of work embraces the poetic possibilities of biomorphic form. Rather than representing nature, these sculptures inhabit its sensibility—one rooted in intuition, ambiguity, and transformation. Within this openness lies a quiet romanticism: the belief that beauty emerges not from certainty, but from mystery; not from perfection, but from the irregular and the living.

Concrete, acrylic stain, flock, crochet, faux fur, and paper are brought together in unexpected relationships. Weight becomes buoyant. Hardness appears soft. Neutrality is interrupted by moments of color and tactile warmth. Texture is central to the work—not simply as surface, but as an implied sensory experience. Each form invites the viewer to imagine touch, creating an intimate dialogue between object and body. In a world increasingly defined by precision and efficiency, can we make space for ambiguity, uncertainty, and wonder?

These forms ask to be encountered deliberately and with humor, allowing emotion to precede judgement. Existing between geology and biology, permanence and vulnerability, abstraction and memory, they are less about what they are than about what they allow us to feel.
